I always love how Robert Reich frames ‘the why’. I trust his mind. These are the people that can replace decaying corroded seats in the U.S. Senate.

Good thing you still have friends that have one.
GIRLS UP : UNITING GIRLS TO CHANGE THE WORLD : UN FOUNDATION
I JUST HEARD 'WHAT TEENS NEED FROM ADULTS TO CHANGE THE WORLD' BY TO THE BEST OF OUR KNOWLEDGE AND WAS FLOORED WITH INSPIRATION.
THE FUTURE IS SO BRIGHT FOR GEN Z. ESPECIALLY WITH ORGANIZATIONS LIKE GIRLS UP.
THEY DON'T SEEM BLOATED BY TECHNOLOGY LIKE THE PREVIOUS TWO INTERNET GENERATIONS ARE. (MINE INCLUDED) WHERE WE SEEM TO FEAST ON THE GLUT OF CONNECTIVITY, THEY SEEM TO ACCEPT ITS OMNIPRESENCE, HANDLE IT AND CHANGE WITH IT. THEY ARE NOT AFRAID OF CHANGE. I HOPE THEY ARE ALL AS PROGRESSIVE AND ACTIVIST MINDED AS ANGIE JIANG AND HER FRIENDS.

The Paradise Papers
This is important. This leak exposed a bottleneck in the global financial network. It runs through the Appleby Law Firm in Bermuda. (Certainly there are many other firms like this) Which essentially provides discreet advice, documentation and safe haven for trillions in corporate profits. Tax rate: 0%. It also shows connections between the many individuals, governments and banks a crossed various industries throughout the entire world.
Further illuminating the fact that the infrastructures, programs and resources of the nations of the world are funding by taxes collected by the middle classes (upper and lower classes as well) but the super elite are largely above the system. Entirely.
The Gilded Age of the 21st Century.
Principal.
Before it was (this widely) politicized.
Before hypocritical owners locked arms in solidarity.
Before it was easy.
This started with one man and his principals fearless of what he had to lose.
Then Eric Reid.
Look at this now. He is still unsigned. So much respect.

An absolute must listen to 'The Daily' this morning. A recount of bullet points from our history with North Korea from 1994 to present day by former Secretary of Defense Willam Perry under the Clinton Administration. The change in course following the 2000 Presidential election is particularly jaw-dropping. To say there isn't a real difference between modern Republicans and Democrats (i.e. 'they are all the same corrupt politicians') is completely ridiculous. The Bush Doctrine completely changed the course of history with North Korea. Hawks and Doves.

POD SAVE THE PEOPLE
Pod Save the People is a podcast about social justice, politics and culture by Deray McKesson. Deray is an activist and a found of Black Lives Matter. This podcast is important to me because it provides a perspective, different from my own, on the issues that affect our society. I learn things every time I listen. More importantly, I think about things differently.
William Barber and David Remnick
A great discussion of good ideas and different perspectives on familiar language and positions in American Culture.

A New York Times reporter and a Coal Miner have a conversation...
On Thursday's podcast 'The Daily's' Michael Barbaro called former coal miner Mark Gray who worked in coal mines for 38 years in Kentucky. Or as some might say, a 'liberal coastal media elite' talks with a 'fly-over state working class coal miner.' The conversation is really remarkable. It is incredible how little each man understands about their respective realities. About how inconsequential facts become when you live life emotionally day in and day out. 'Walk a mile in someone else's shoes' seems as relevant as ever. This conversation is a microcosm of modern day American divisiveness. At the end of the day, it is two people talking together and what happens is remarkable. I would imagine both men feel differently today than they did yesterday.
Give it a listen here. It starts 9 minutes in.

A great current events discussion podcast that is the brainchild of Crooked Media
Jon Favreau, Tommy Vietor and Jon Lovett
These guys worked in various capacities in the Obama Administration namely speech writing, communications and foreign policy you can read about their details above.
Recently, they started a foreign policy focused podcast called
Hosted by Tommy Vietor
The most compelling parts of these discussions beyond the guests is the work. When they take us through policy discussions they generally reference their work experience inside the Obama White house and it is fascinating. they were so young - it must have been incredible.
Here are some great episodes recently including an awesome discussion with
Deray McKesson and his efforts organizing BLM and his new Resistance Manual
Here is a great discussion with Cody Keenan Obama's last Chief Speechwriter, Favreau's successor. Particularly the story about how Cody got the nickname "Movable Feast". What an experience. Keenan is staying with Obama to help write his memoir.
Here is a great discussion with Jake Sullivan on the Iran Deal Negotiations.
#PATAGONIA
The day after Patagonia announced it will not participate in the Outdoor Retailers Tradeshow they just emailed this video.
The values of Patagonia are at odds with Utah's public lands policy and our lawmakers. And current house bills like this reflect that.
I stand with Patagonia and the values they prioritize as a company.
This is how a modern company should be run, especially one that deals in physical commodities. They always seem to be sharpening their altruistic knife and they aren't going to let it run dull anytime soon.
