A New York Times reporter and a Coal Miner have a conversation...

On Thursday's podcast 'The Daily's' Michael Barbaro called former coal miner Mark Gray who worked in coal mines for 38 years in Kentucky. Or as some might say, a 'liberal coastal media elite' talks with a 'fly-over state working class coal miner.' The conversation is really remarkable. It is incredible how little each man understands about their respective realities. About how inconsequential facts become when you live life emotionally day in and day out. 'Walk a mile in someone else's shoes' seems as relevant as ever. This conversation is a microcosm of modern day American divisiveness. At the end of the day, it is two people talking together and what happens is remarkable. I would imagine both men feel differently today than they did yesterday.
